CASE STUDY 02 / ENTERPRISE UX/UI

Enviance

Six Years Untangling the Old and Building a Unified Vision.

9 Products. 1 Designer. No Shortage of Challenges.

Chemical management, hazardous waste, health and safety, inspections, custom form builders, dashboards, and more. Each project came with its own users, workflows, and design challenges.

As Enviance's sole product designer, I worked with four product managers across a diverse portfolio of enterprise products. From modernizing aging interfaces and simplifying highly configurable workflows to designing entirely new applications, there was always something different to tackle.

01 / 04PRODUCT MODERNIZATION

Old Technology. New Expectations.

Aging technology limited what was possible, even in some of the newer applications. Some products needed incremental improvements, while others allowed for more substantial redesigns. Either way, the goal was to improve the user experience and establish a design foundation.

Each required a different approach, from untangling complex workflows to designing something entirely new. The challenge was balancing what users needed with what the technology and development teams could deliver.

02 / 04CONFIGURABLE WORKSPACES

Portal: One Workspace. Endless Possibilities.

Portal brought Enviance's products together in one customizable workspace. Organizations could build dashboards, create pages, integrate forms and tasks, and manage access through roles and permissions.

The challenge was making all that flexibility feel simple, giving administrators powerful tools to configure the experience while keeping everyday tasks intuitive for users.

03 / 04DESIGN FOUNDATIONS

Different Technologies. A Common Design Language.

With products built on different technologies and no shared design system, creating consistency wasn't straightforward.

For older applications, I used UI audits and style guides to improve interfaces one screen at a time. Newer products offered the opportunity to build a stronger foundation with reusable components, consistent interaction patterns, and visual standards using a customized framework.

04 / 04DESIGN PROCESS

Design. Test. Refine. Repeat.

With four product managers and a constant stream of challenges, there was never a shortage of problems to solve. I worked closely with developers, product managers, and customers to understand workflows, explore ideas through wireframes, and quickly turn concepts into interactive prototypes.

Usability testing, customer feedback, and Pendo analytics helped guide decisions throughout the process. Rather than waiting until the end to validate a design, we made adjustments along the way, continuously refining the experience.
